Establishing a Land Development Company (LDC) – Mozambique

 Project description:

During 2013 with the help of program Water Mondial a masterplan has been developed for the city of Beira. The Beira masterplan (BMP) aims at sustainable city development, urban water management and coastal protection. The BMP provides a sketch for urban and industrial development of Beira for the next 25 years.

As part of the BMP a number of follow-up projects have been identified and preliminary studied in order to make a start with the beginning of the implementation of the BMP.

The Land Development Company (LDC) has been identified as one of the potential follow-up projects.

The development of the Land Development Company is threefold; 1) the development of the legal LDC entity, 2) the development of a business case for the (social) housing sector, and 3) the development of a business case for the port and industrial zone. This report contains the business case for the (social) housing sector.
