With increasing cargo volumes, the need for a deep sea port in Bangladesh is becoming more urgent. Therefore, the Government of Bangladesh wished to revive the Sonadia Deep Sea Port project. In 2009 a masterplan was developed for this greenfield port located on Sonadia island.
PCR was asked to review masterplan Sonadia DSP and draft recommendations. The aim of this project is to indicate which actions need to be taken to start the Sonadia Deep Sea Port development. The recommendations mainly concern institutional development, project financial structuring and project implementation and planning.
